Krabi is thought to be one of the oldest communities within Thailand with findings going back to the prehistoric era. Its beautiful islands and weather make it a great destination within South East Asia. Given the seasonality of weather patterns, we think the best time to visit Krabi is during from December through March during its dry season.
Krabi is 814 kilometres south of Bangkok and it traverses 4,708 square kilometres of Thailand. The province is well-known for its beaches, islands, water sports, and scenic beauty. Talay Reck island is a snorkelling paradise between Koh Tub and Koh Mor and is just one of the many islands in the vicinity with more than 130 large islands and small islands for exploration. Krabi provides a perfect place for relaxation with an unhurried lifestyle.

In short, the weather is Krabi is wonderful. It has both a dry/hot season and wet/cool season. The dry season typically runs from December through March. Rain showers are uncommon but can still happen during dry season. Fortunately, the amount of sunshine in Krabi during the dry season is encouraging. As such, we think the best time to visit the Krabi is the dry season.
The wet/cool season, also known as monsoon season, lasts from May through October. While the weather might be less than desirable, monsoon season brings lower hotel rates and less crowded tourist spots.
Generally, the temperature is high throughout the year with the average high never being below 30C (86 F). As a result, the ocean remains warm enough to swim in year-round. Given the high temperatures, its important to stay hydrated and take precautions to prevent sunburns and heatstroke.
Krabi Weather: January & February
January, as most months in Krabi, is quite balmy with the average minimum temperature being 21C (87F) and maximum temperature being 33C (91F). January is also the driest month and is quite suitable for swimming and water activities such as snorkelling. It is one of the best times to visit Krabi as there are ample opportunities for sunbathing, without the risk of sunburn or heat stroke.
Krabi’s weather in February makes it another amazing time for visiting. The weather is similar to January with only a slight increase in temperature; remaining consistent at 33C (91.4F). February is typically the sunniest and hottest month. Precipitation is very low and the water temperature is wonderful. The Ultra Violet (UV) Ray Index is at its maximum of 12 so its advisable to bring canopies, hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
As a result of the great weather, January and February are some of the best times to visit Krabi – especially for those trying to escape the Northern Hemisphere winters.
Krabi Weather: March & April
March and April are pre-monsoon months. Krabi’s weather in March has longer daylight and semi-heavy rain showers. Humidity rates are slightly lower but the temperature ranges between 23C (73.4 F) at its lowest and 34C (93.2F) at its highest. As the rain showers begin, the temperature start to fall from an average of 28.5C until it reaches 23C. The temperature is sometimes very unstable in March and can rise as high as 35C only to drop below 22C. March is a great option for those who want to enjoy the beauty of Krabi without dealing with the heat.
In April, Krabi’s weather is still quite hot as the temperature is on the rise but the pre-monsoon rains become more frequent. April is typically the warmest month with an average temperature of 34C (93F). It is accompanied by frequent thunderstorms and short, heavy rainfall giving relief to the high temperature and humidity.
Krabi Weather: May & June
May brings nearly 50% more rainy days as April with an average of almost 16 days with rainfall.. The average high is 32.9C (91.2F) and average low is 23.7C (74.7F). The water temperature remains warm for leisure swimming and water sports or activities.
Krabi’s weather in June is still as hot as May, ranging from lowest at 24C (75.2F) and its highest at 32C (89.6F). The clouds roll in and it’s fairly overcast for much of June.
Krabi Weather: July & August
July brings about 5 hours of daily sunshine with temperatures of 24C (75.2F) and 31C (87.8F). Similar weather can be expected in August. Showery days happen more often than not with 18 days of rainfall each month.
August ushers in thunderstorms and both light and moderate rainfall. August is relatively humid despite the more frequent rainfall. Krabi’s weather in August is fairly constant with a temperature of 30C (86F).
If you’re able to cope with the rain, July and August may be for you but we tend to avoid these months.
Krabi Weather: September & October
September has the second least sunshine with an average of just under five hours daily. The average temperature ranges from 24C (75.2F) to 31C (87.8F). September provides a haven for those seeking respite from the heat and humidity of the previous months.
October has the most rainy days with almost 22 and the least daily sunshine with an average of only 3.5 hours. The average temperature is 24C (75.2F) and 31C (87.8F).
Given the little sun and lots of rain, we’d recommend against visiting Krabi in September and October.

November is popularly called the holiday month. Temperatures drop resulting in an average of 23C (73.4F) to 30C (86F). This month is quite suitable for vacationers who love the mild heat and much milder sunshine. Krabi’s weather in November is a little bit humid and wind is at its lowest.
Krabi’s weather in December is similar to November with an average temperature of 23C (73.4F) and 31C (87.8F). The air is humid, and temperatures are low in preparation for the new year. Celebrations and festivities are sky high and this is good for those who want to meet new people or learn new cultures and systems.
